This cable is a multiconductor cable that employs 7-strand Class B soft drawn bare copper as its main conductive members. The cable is rated for up to 2,400kV per the National Electric Code. The copper conductors align with ASTM standard B3 and B8; specifications set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials for annealed copper wire and concentric lay stranded cables. The conductors bear a conductor shield which is a 5 mil thick, semi-conducting tape. Crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulates each conductor. Crosslinked polyethylene is a thermoset plastic material that is resistant to abrasion, heat, moisture, water, and oil. The cable includes one insulated Class B soft drawn bare copper ground conductor which serves to ensure steady conductivity through the phase conductors. The conductors are assembly in a parallel side-by-side orientation to maximize resistance to crushing and impact by heavy objects. A black polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket makes up the exterior of the cable. The PVC jacket protects the interior of the cables from abrasion, moisture, oil, petrochemicals, and heat.
Applications:
